A long career is what many professional athletes aspire to have but few achieve. Nene Hilario is one of the few who has achieved such status. Nene is currently playing in his 17th professional season in the NBA. Although he currently plays for the Houston Rockets, he has played for a total of three teams throughout that span. Nene Hilario’s net worth sits at $40 million.
The seventh overall pick in the 2002 NBA draft, Nene was traded on draft night to the Denver Nuggets where he began his playing career. His initial contract with Denver was worth $6.3 million for three years.
During the offseason of 2006 is when Nene really hit a payday. He agreed to a six year deal valued at $60 million. This contract would give immediate rise to Nene Hilario’s net worth.
Nene is currently in the middle of a three year contract with the Rockets. He is making roughly $3.6 million this season and that number will increase slightly next year. He has seen his role in the team decrease significantly from the peak of his career.
A 6’11” center, Nene could be counted on for his offensive production along with his rebounding ability. During the 2008-2009 season with Denver, he averaged over 14 points per game along with nearly eight rebounds each contest.
Despite his solid career, Nene has only garnered one accolade. During his rookie season he made the All-Rookie 1st Team. Although he has never made an All-Star game and won’t go into the Hall of Fame, his long NBA career is something he can be very proud of.
With the end of his NBA career coming to a close, we don’t expect Nene Hilario’s net worth to increase much more in the coming seasons. He will earn a little more than $3.8 million if he decides to play next year. With that being said, it is fair to say that Nene has made more than enough money throughout his career to last him into retirement.
