The Baltimore Ravens have made the 2019 NFL playoffs. After getting off to a hot 6-1 start to begin the season, they faltered a bit before winning three of their last four contests to win their division.
While many experts credit the Ravens quarterback play for their late resurgence, it’s not the play of the guy who began the season for them. Lamar Jackson has taken over under center for the team and is now in control of the offense. Injuries to Joe Flacco opened the door for Jackson. Joe Flacco’s net worth currently sits at $60 million.
Flacco was the 18th overall pick in the 2008 NFL draft. He was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens and has spent his entire career with the team. The first contract he signed as a professional was for $30 million over five years. A quick way to get Joe Flacco’s net worth off to a hot start.
Joe is currently in his eleventh season in the NFL. He has played in every game for nine of the eleven seasons, and he has amassed amazing stats along the way. Statistically speaking, his best year came during the 2014 season where he had a QBR (Total Quarterback Rating) of 68.2 and set a career high for touchdowns thrown in a season with 27.
Although he was beginning to put together another solid season for 2018, injuries allowed backup quarterback, Lamar Jackson, to take control of the offense. Jackson has started the last part of the season for the team and many believe he will be the starter for 2019 as well.
After completion of this season, Joe Flacco has three years remaining on his contract. The extension he signed back in 2016 paid the quarterback a $40 million signing bonus and an average salary of over $22 million per year. The signing bonus helped to greatly elevate Joe Flacco’s net worth.
While Flacco might not be the starter for Baltimore next year, there is a good chance his career continues. Many teams throughout the NFL will be looking for a reliable quarterback next season, especially one who has a Super Bowl under his belt.
With a trade, or new renegotiated deal for next year and the years after, expect Joe Flacco’s net worth to continue to increase for many seasons to come.
