15 SUVs That Deliver More for Your Money

SUVs are more popular than ever in 2024. Purchasing one is a no-brainer for individuals and families looking for an everyday vehicle that can also fit more passengers and cargo than a sedan. But which ones are worth it?

With so many SUVs on the market that offer wildly different sizes, features, and prices, it can be hard to know where to start. Luckily, we’ve got you covered. Based on expert and consumer reviews, these SUVs will offer the best bang for your buck in 2024.

1. Mazda CX-5

This small SUV is highly rated all around. In fact, it was rated the #1 compact SUV for 2024 and 2025. At a starting price of $29,000, it’s also an affordable option for what you get—a quiet ride and upscale interior for well below luxury prices.

The CX-5 competes with Mazda’s newer compact SUV, the CX-50, which has also received enthusiastic reviews. However, the CX-5 might be the best option for budget shoppers due to its slightly lower price and sporty feel.

2. Kia Soul

Kia’s Soul has been around for years and is beloved for its unusual shape, which has more or less been maintained over multiple generations. This subcompact SUV packs a real punch in terms of value: it’s roomy, handles well, and gets great gas mileage. With a starting price under $20,000, this is a great family car and an affordable starter car for a new driver.

3. BMW X1

The X1 is highly competitive in the market of extra-small SUVs. Starting at $40,500, it’s the company’s most affordable entry of its kind. For that price, you get a high-tech vehicle that’s fun to drive and surprisingly spacious inside, with ample legroom for all passengers. If you want to upgrade to an SUV but don’t want something huge, this little BMW could be the car for you.

4. Kia Telluride

A compact SUV might not cut it if you have a large family or you’re looking for extra cargo space. That’s where the Telluride comes in. Rated KBB’s favorite midsize SUV, the Telluride boasts a massive three-row cabin, comfy interior, and advanced driver assist technology. Offering a great deal of value for a starting price of $36,000, it won’t break the bank, either. The only drawback is the fuel economy, which is slightly below average.

5. Honda Passport

The aptly named Passport will take you anywhere you need to go. This midsize SUV is highly rated for storage space, passenger space, and impressive off-road capability without the cumbersome build and high price tag of larger SUV models. With a starting price of $41,900, it is a versatile family car and offers impressive bang for your buck.

6. Hyundai Tucson Hybrid

This surprisingly affordable hybrid SUV has a sporty look, driver-assist technology, a comfy ride, and impressive mpg. It was rated 2024’s best hybrid SUV and best starter car for teens, likely due to its extraordinary safety ratings. While it doesn’t quite stack up to similar models like the Honda CR-V in terms of handling, it’s still a terrific pick for the whole family.

7. Honda CR-V

The Honda CR-V is a perennial favorite, and the hybrid model offers great value. The CR-V’s utility and reliability are well-known, and the hybrid option offers even more value for families looking for great handling, cargo space, and intuitive tech features. Its competitors include the Hyundai Tuscon and Kia Sportage, which have slightly higher fuel economy ratings.

8. Genesis GV70

This luxury SUV is a value rockstar. The Genesis GV70 provides everything you could want from a car of its class at an affordable price—just $45,700 for the base model. It boasts plenty of cargo space and a luxuriously smooth ride. The interior and exterior are thoughtfully designed with comfort and style in mind, so you’ll love driving it around town while feeling even better knowing you spent thousands less than you would have on other luxury models.

9. Chevrolet Suburban

You might expect a large vehicle like the Suburban to be difficult to maneuver, and, admittedly, it won’t handle like a Kia Soul, but its sheer size doesn’t go to waste. The Suburban has three spacious rows of seating, ample cargo space, and an impressive infotainment system, making it perfect for taking the family on long trips.

The drawbacks to the Suburban are expected for a large SUV. The gas mileage doesn’t quite hold up to other cars in its class, and it doesn’t fit neatly into tight spaces. Still, it’s a great option for the features and value that it offers.

10. Lincoln Navigator

The Navigator is an excellent choice for those looking for a stylish, borderline intimidating ride. This large luxury SUV has it all: a powerful engine, a towing capacity of 8,700 pounds, a cavernous interior with three seating rows, and an impressive but user-friendly array of technology, including a hands-free driving option.

The only competitor that offers more features is the Land Rover Defender, which boasts greater off-roading capabilities with the same luxury feel.

11. Lexus NX Hybrid

If the Tuscon or CR-V hybrids don’t do it for you, consider the Lexus NX hybrid. For a slightly higher price, you can cruise in style with ample interior space and upscale technological features. It might not be as exciting to drive as other cars in its class, but it’s an excellent option for the price. Plus, the Lexus NX offers the best of both worlds as one of the only small luxury SUVs with a hybrid model.

12. Audi SQ7

The Audi SQ7 is far from the most affordable option on this list, but it’s a steal compared to similar luxury crossover SUVs. Impressive handling, a 500-hp V8 engine, and massive towing capacity—what more could you ask for? That’s not to mention that it accelerates faster than a sports car despite its size.

The main complaints about the SQ7 are the lackluster fuel economy and—you guessed it—the price. But if it’s within your budget, it’s worth consideration.

13. Tesla Model Y Performance

The first all-electric car on this list, the Tesla Model Y Performance model offers the high-end feel and excitement you expect from a Tesla at a relatively affordable price. With an impressive 263-mile range and quick acceleration, you’ll feel like you’re in a sports car that still has the ample legroom and cargo space you want from an SUV.

14. Hyundai IONIQ 5

What the electric IONIQ 5 lacks in range, it makes up for in affordability and with its user-friendly interface. With a range of 220 miles, it can cover a lot of ground and also boasts quick charging times. The starting price is $41,800, well below the Tesla Model Y, so if you’re looking for a practical starter EV, this could be the one for you.

15. Subaru Crosstrek

There’s no way around it—the Crosstrek is a great, reliable little car. For a starting price of $25,195, you get a practical everyday vehicle that’s also better off-road than many of its rivals due to its standard all-wheel drive. Unfortunately, the Crosstrek suffers from sluggish acceleration compared to other small crossover SUVs, and its cargo space leaves something to be desired. Still, it remains one of the most reliable picks for the price tag.
