19 Kitchen Items to Grab at Dollar Tree to Save Big

We can all agree we want the best for our homes, but we also don’t want to spend an arm and leg. Even worse, we don’t want to accrue debt to keep up with the Joneses. The good news is that you can snag decent items for your kitchen without spending a fortune.

The Dollar Tree is well known for selling $1 items, or at least close to $1 since inflation continues to raise costs. Although it may be hard to believe, you can purchase a few kitchen items with low price tags that may impress your friends.

1. Party Supplies

For your next backyard barbecue or birthday party, head to Dollar Tree for all the decorations and disposable plates, cups, and cutlery you could ask for. Save yourself clean-up hassle and a ton of money by stocking up. You can even buy themed supplies and holiday decorations.

2. Coffee Filters

If you’re a morning person, or at least try to be one like I do, coffee filters are essential. Depending on where you shop, coffee filters can cost you up to $10 after tax. Dollar Tree has you covered at $1–$2 a pack, depending on your location. On average, coffee filters last three to four months, so if you’re not shopping at Dollar Tree, you might be paying up to $30 annually. Why not pay less than $10 for the entire year instead?

3. Ice Cube Trays

Ice cube trays are a must, especially for those hot summer days. You can make your favorite fruit punch and make them into nice-looking cubes, or pour your favorite coffee to avoid watered-down cold brew. The options feel endless. Places like Amazon charge up to $10 for a single ice cube tray. Unless you’re looking for a specific tray design for your tasty meals, don’t bother paying 10 times the cost!

4. Trash Bags

Quality may vary slightly, but do you want to pay up to $25 for a single box of trash bags when you can pay $1? If quality is a concern, consider double-bagging your trash if you have to empty a heavy load. Even if you can comfortably afford paying retail price for expensive trash bags, it doesn’t make sense financially.

5. Measuring Cups

If you’ve ever tried following a trending recipe on TikTok or YouTube, you know measuring cups are best for preparing a delicious recipe. If you’re a pro in the kitchen without measuring cups, consider snagging a few at a low cost. Places like Amazon will sell measuring cups for up to $15, while you can grab one at Dollar Tree for a fraction of that.

6. Can Openers

Whether you’re opening a can of beans or food for your cat, can openers are a must. Maybe you’re using the same opener to open all your cans. The good news is that you can now stock up on a few of them—or at least one for your pets—so you can quickly feed them each morning.

Some reputable brands sell can openers for close to $20, but you can snag a basic one for $1 at Dollar Tree. Of course, the material won’t be anything to brag about, but does an expensive can opener feel that much better at $20?

7. Mixing Bowls

Mixing bowls vary in price, from anywhere between $15–$45, sometimes even higher. Many large retail brands will offer quality bowls, but at a high premium. If you need a basic bowl to mix your salad or other ingredients, it’s hard to beat purchasing one for $1.

8. Plastic Wrap

Go to your local store, and you will find plastic wrap priced at close to $10. Although you may not find large brand names at Dollar Tree and the quality may vary, $1 is hard to beat. Plus, you can purchase a few extra for when you run out.

9. Mugs

Any coffee lover will admit that coffee doesn’t feel right without their favorite mug. Mug options will vary on your location, but Dollar Tree will have at least one mug you’ll enjoy your coffee in. At your local Target, expect to pay $10 or more for a basic mug. You may have more options there and the quality may be better, but most mugs break the same.

10. Plates and Bowls

Depending on the quality, expect to pay on average up to $15 for a single plate. Sure, you may be able to snag some plates at a cheap price when you find them on sale, but Dollar Tree always has them for $1–$2.

11. Cutting Boards

The cutting boards at Dollar Tree may not be the highest quality, but they are good enough for the average home cook. Even if you’re a pro in the kitchen and need higher-quality boards, consider snagging one at Dollar Tree to chop your favorite fruits or snacks in a pinch.

12. Kitchen Utensils

If you’re barely in the kitchen or don’t care about the quality of your utensils as long as they serve their purpose, it’s hard to beat paying $1. At common retail locations, expect to pay upward of $100 for a complete set of utensils.

13. Spice Racks

If you hate clutter and have debated getting a spice rack, run to Dollar Tree after reading this post and snag yourself a decent spice rack. You’ll enjoy cooking a bit more and clearly see what spices you may need to replace on your next visit to the grocery store!

14. Cleaning Supplies

You can most likely bet that you won’t see popular brands when roaming around Dollar Tree. However, if you pay attention to the ingredients, you may be able to grab decent cleaning supplies for close to $1. And if you’re too lazy to read, try a few different cleaning supplies in bulk and determine which one works best for you. It sure beats paying more than $10 a bottle in retail stores.

15. Storage Baskets and Bins

Most of us have more clutter than we care to admit. The good news is that you can start organizing your closet, room, or attic by snagging a few storage bins or baskets. If you’re into flipping items like myself, you can use these storage bins to organize the items you’re selling.

16. Serving Trays and Platters

Expect to pay close to $30 at common retail stores for serving trays and platters. As an alternative, you can grab decent ones for a fraction of the cost at Dollar Tree. Consider evaluating your current platters and determine their condition. If you need some replacements, consider snagging a few at Dollar Tree for close to $1.

17. Baking Pans

If you enjoy baking, pans are a must. It’s common to pay more than $10 for baking pans at popular retail stores. Why pay more when you can snag one—or a few—at Dollar Tree for a fraction of the cost? Heads up, though—most of these trays will be a semi-strong aluminum material. You may be able to find other options, though, depending on your location.

18. Water Bottles and Travel Mugs

If you’re not a fan of single-use plastic, having a reusable water bottle is a no-brainer. You can take your bottle while traveling or use it at home. It sure beats having to throw dozens of bottles in the trash weekly and further polluting the environment. Though most of the cups at Dollar Tree will be plastic, you may be able to find stainless steel options as well.

19. Bag Clips

Even if you eat relatively healthy, our cravings can get the best of us. If you purchase a family-sized bag of chips, you most likely won’t finish it in one sitting. This is where bag clips come in handy. Believe it or not, some retail stores will charge you up to $10 for these tiny clips. You can often find them in bulk, but it’s hard to justify paying more than $1 for them.
